Coming from the deserts and mountainsides of Australia and Tasmania, most Eucalyptus are used to dry condtions.

A popular small to medium sized tree. One of a few Eucalypts that can tolerate semi-shade, being a Swamp Gum thrives in wetter conditions. Unusual in that the young leaves are heart-shaped.

Mature Height: 10m
Rate of Growth: 1-1.5m per year
Hardiness: ** -10 to -15°C
Soil: Wet Tolerent, Dry Tolerant, Clay Tolerant
Position: Full Sun or Part Shade
Growth Habit: Compact shape, dense foliage
Leaves: Young leaves are heart-shaped (obcordate), mature leaves more elliptical, green to blue-green in colour.
Bark: Smooth or partially rough, white-grey to green or yellow, slightly powdery.
Special Interest: Strong Aroma, Heart-shaped young leaves

One of the most well-known Eucalyptus. A versatile variety that's hardy, coppices well, makes a good specimen tree, good for biomass, is tolerant of poorly drained soils and can be grown indoors.

Soil: Wet Tolerent, Dry Tolerant
Position: Full Sun
Growth Habit: Spreading upper branches with dense crown.
Leaves: Juvenile leaves are grey-green or glaucous , adult leaves are non glossy grey-green to blue-green.
Bark: Smooth flaking bark mottled white, yellow, pink, brown, green or grey.
Special Interest: Can be Container Grown, Can be Coppiced, Floristry, Biomass

A cultivar of the Cider Gum making an attractive ornamental tree, it differs from the regular Cider Gum by having much bluer leaves. The juvenile foliage can be used for fresh or dried flower arranging. A good hardy variety also for hedging, wind breaks, screening which will tolerate poor drainage. This must be one of our favourite varieties of Eucalyptus.

This tree gets its name from the peeling ribbons of bark around the base of the tree which droop to look like a dripping wax candle and the variation in the leaf colours make this a very decorative tree. It's fast growing and will thrive in low fertile, acid soils.

Soil: Dry Tolerant
Position: Wind Tolerant
Growth Habit: Dense foliage, straight and compact.
Leaves: Young leaves can be rounded and blue-green, adult leaves are long blades and range from glossy green to grey-green.
Bark: The bark is white, red and brown bark colours shedding in ribbons.
Special Interest: Ornamental Specimen
